Her research focuses on the economics of education as well as rural development and urban transitions in China. In recent work, she has explored how molecular genetic data can be used to shed light on how poor health affects academic outcomes in adolescence. Prior to joining the faculty at Queen’s, Prof. Ding spent two years at the University of Michigan as the Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow. Several of her research projects involve collecting microdata in China and her research has been published in the Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Health Economics, China Economic Review among other outlets. She received her PhD in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002 after completing a B.A. in Economics at Fudan University.</image:caption>

His research has been published in the Review of Economics and Statistics, Review of Economic Studies, American Political Science Review among other outlets. His recent research evaluating universal childcare policies was awarded the 2013 John Vandekamp prize for best article in Canadian Public policy and his work on genetic lotteries received the 2009 Victor R. His research focuses on information coding in neural circuits, using an understanding of computation to examine both biological mechanism and behavior. In his graduate work with Matthew Wilson, he explored the patterned reactivation of mnemonic information in the rodent hippocampus during REM sleep. His postdoctoral research with Paul Glimcher focused on value representation in the primate brain, particularly the frontal and parietal circuits that control the selection of saccadic eye movements. Currently, a central focus of his research group is the role of canonical neural computations such as divisive normalization in the neural representation of value information. Ongoing projects include an efficient coding analysis of value coding, exploration of dynamical models of time-varying decision activity, and examination of history-dependent adaptation effects in neural activity and choice behavior.</image:caption>

<image:caption>IISDM Director Professor of Neural Science, Economics and Psychology My post-doctoral training was in oculomotor physiology. Working with Prof. David Sparks researching the brainstem and mesencephalic nuclei that control eye rotations, I uncovered evidence that structures participating in the execution of saccadic eye movements might be involved in planning those movements as well. Evidence of this type has been accumulating throughout the neuraxis, but few signals have been associated with any one of the covert processes postulated to intervene between sensation and action. As a result, over the past decade my laboratory has focused on the identification and characterization of signals that intervene between the neural processes that engage in sensory encoding and the neural processes that engage in movement generation. These are the signals which must, in principle, underlie decision-making. My laboratory studies these processes using a variety of tools that are drawn from the fields of neuroscience, economics and psychology, and our methodologies range from single neuron electrophysiology to fMRI to game theory. In a similar way, the members of my laboratory include scientists with primary training in neurobiology, economics, and psychology.</image:caption>

<image:caption>J.P. Valles Professor, NYU Stern School of Business Distinguished Professor, NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering Member, NYU Institute for the Interdisciplinary Study of Decision Making Associated Faculty Member, NYU Center for Data Science Adam is a pioneer of the "epistemic" approach to game theory, which studies the effect of how players in games reason about one another (including how they reason about other players' reasoning) on how games are played. His book The Language of Game Theory (World Scientific, 2014) collects together much of his work in this area. He also developed (with Harborne Stuart) the concept of a "biform game," which is a model of strategy as moves that affect how value is created and divided among the players in a game. His book Co-opetition (with Barry Nalebuff, Doubleday, 1996) applies this idea to business strategy. Among Adam's current projects are: studying the effects of giving players in a game access to quantum rather than classical information resources; developing a procedure for inferring players' reasoning from their observed behavior. Adam received his B.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Cambridge, and was a professor at Harvard Business School from 1987 to 2002. .</image:caption>

<image:caption>Associate Professor of Neural Science and Psychology, New York University Nathaniel Daw is the Associate Professor of Neural Science and Psychology and Affiliated Associate Professor of Computer Science at New York University. He received his Ph.D. in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University and at the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition, before conducting postdoctoral research at the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit at UCL. His research concerns computational approaches to reinforcement learning and decision making, and particularly the application of computational models in the laboratory, to the design of experiments and the analysis of behavioral and neural data. He is the recipient of a McKnight Scholar Award, a NARSAD Young Investigator Award, a Scholar Award in Understanding Human Cognition from the MacDonnell Foundation, and the Young Investigator Award from the Society for Neuroeconomics.  </image:caption>

<image:caption>Assistant Professor, University of Sydney, School of Economics Visiting Affiliated Faculty, IISDM, New York University While studying economics as a graduate student at Bocconi University and a visiting scholar at Northwestern University, Dr Tymula became convinced that understanding the biological constraints of human decision-making will ultimately be a fruitful way to constrain economic theory and experiments. In order to gain that understanding, she completed post-doctoral training in neuroscience at New York University. Dr Tymula’s work focuses on the biological foundations of economic preferences and factors that explain systematic heterogeneity in decision-making both between individuals (e.g. age, gender, neuroanatomy, and socio-economic variables) and within individuals (e.g. thirst, context and feedback). Her work has been funded through grants from the Australian Research Council, AXA Research Fund and Templeton Foundation and published in journals including PNAS, Management Science, American Journal of Political Science and Journal of Neuroscience. Dr Tymula’s research has been featured in popular international media such as Time magazine, Wall Street Journal, CNN, NBC News, and Businessweek. Dr Tymula’s ultimate goal is to relate insights from her research to policy.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Shanghai Neuroeconomics Collective supports, as one of its flagship programs, an international summer school on Neuroeconomics which will be held biennially. Held on the brand new downtown campus of New York University in Shanghai, the Neuroeconomics Summer School brings together international leaders in neuroeconomics, gifted graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows for an intensive 2-week course. Modeled after the Cold Spring Harbor Banbury meetings and the International Behavioral Economics Summer School, the course aims to be the preeminent training venue for young neuroeconomists.</image:caption>
